FAQs

What's the difference between Standard, Select, and Notion credits?

Standard and Select credits come with workspaces on a Business or Enterprise plan.

  • Standard credits cover work where Notion picks the model.

  • Select credits cover work where you pick a model yourself, or use a Custom Agent you set up.

  • Notion credits are a separate, workspace-managed balance your admin can turn on so you can keep going once your Standard or Select credits run out.

Standard and Select credits are separate per-member balances. These balances can't be pooled across the workspace, transferred between members, or exchanged for other credit types. They’re not "Notion Credits" as defined in the Notion AI and Notion Credit Terms and don’t count toward your Notion Credit Limit. The workspace-managed Notion credits described above are "Notion Credits" under those terms.

How many credits does each task use?

It depends on the task. In Notion’s estimates, simple tasks use about 5 credits, medium tasks about 10, and complex tasks about 25. Actual use varies with the task and its context.

What is Auto?

Auto is Notion’s model router. It chooses the model that best balances quality, speed, and cost for each task, so you don’t have to choose one.

Can I combine or transfer my credits?

No. Standard and Select credits are separate, and each person has their own. You can't combine them, move them between people, or trade one kind for another.

When do my credits reset?

Standard and Select credits each reset monthly, at the start of your billing cycle, and they don't roll over.

If you use one up, you can wait for it to reset, or keep going on Notion credits if your admin has turned that on. The other keeps working as usual.

How will I know I'm close to running out?

You can track your Standard and Select credits from Settings → Notion AI → Usage.

We'll also notify you as you get close and when you've used up your Standard or Select credits.

Can my workspace get additional Notion AI usage?

Yes. Workspace admins can let members keep using Notion AI beyond their Standard or Select credits by spending Notion credits.

This is off by default. Admins can turn it on in Settings → Notion AI.

Which credits does Notion Agent use?

On Auto, Notion Agent uses your Standard credits. When you pick a model yourself, it uses your Select credits.

How do Custom Agents use credits?

A Custom Agent you set up uses your Select credits, even when you share it with your team. Once your Select credits run out, it uses any extra credits your admin has given you. After that, it switches to your workspace's Notion credits automatically (if your admin allows it). An admin can fund the agent with Notion credits at any time. You can also ask your admin to do this.

Do connected apps and the Notion API use credits?

Everyday connected apps and the Notion API don’t use your credits, though normal rate limits still apply. Running an agent through a connected app or the API uses Notion credits.

Does AI Meeting Notes consume credits?

AI meeting notes uses Auto and will begin consuming monthly Standard credit allowance starting December. A one hour meeting is estimated to use ~10 Standard credits.
